Davido and Mafikizolo lead the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards (See full nomination list)

The MAMA nominations were revealed at The Sands in Johannesburg, South Africa, yesterday by MTV Base’s video jockeys, Nomuzi Mabena and Sizwe Dhlomo alongside Alex Okosi, Tim Horwood and other significant dignitaries.

Leading other African artists with four top nominations is top Nigerian singer, Davido and Mafikizolo &Uhuru who earned four nods as well as they compete for the Song of the Year, Artist for the Year and Best Collaboration category.

MAMA 2014 will be celebrating musicians and high-fliers who have influenced the African youth culture during the course of the year. A host of African performers will grace the occasion including international artists who will collaborate with other African artists to perform deliver amazing performances at the prestigious award ceremony.

Davido

Our very own OBO act -Davido may be lucky enough to grab an award on the four categories he was selected. However, it could be a tough one for him in the Artist of the Year and Song of the Year cateogry where he will go head-to-head with Mafizikolo whose infectious ‘Khona’ song was widely received in Africa.
