Cameroonian pop singer Dencia made headlines last month with the release of her dark-spot eliminating cream, Whitenicious. She’s faced quite a blacklash from people who say her product (which sold out almost immediately) promotes self-hatred within the black community. Ebony.com sat down with Dencia to hear her side of the story. Not only does the singer say that most of the people (80% to be exact) buying her product
are black Americans, she also makes light of the skin bleaching issue, ignoring its health risks, despite being given medical statistics, and equating lightening skin with relaxing one’s hair. She denies that her product is a skin bleach, noting that the small jars in which the product comes “can’t even go on your whole feet.” Hmm… read the full article over at Ebony, and tell us what you think of Dencia’s defense.
