The safety and security of a marriage or LTR (long term relationship) is a double edged sword. While it is great to have a comfort level and not have to be red carpet ready at all times with your mate, it’s not so cool to let your sex life crash and burn. Yes, you have a career and tons of responsibility, but it is also your responsibility to maintain a healthy relationship with your partner. If you are in a sexually active LTR or married, sex is a key way to connect on a physical and spiritual level. So, here are a few tips to keep your sex life on and poppin’:
1) Fuel Up: If you want to have a happy and active sex life, then you need to fuel your body properly. Maybe, just maybe, the reason you are too tired for sex is because you are shoving empty calories in your face all day. Eat your veggies, drink your water, and take your vitamins!!
2) Dress Up: Put those granny panties and sweatpants up! It is time for some new undergarments and flattering clothes! If you can get cute to go on a date, to the mall, or to church, then you can get cute in your house. Now that summer is upon us, wear your favorite sundress or summer outfit and WERK girl!
3) Act Up: You may not have acting chops like Halle Berry, but I’m sure your lover will give you a standing ovation for your performance. Who do you want to be? School teacher? Cheerleader?
4) Mix Up: There is no better way to keep sex interesting than to mix it up. There are a wide variety of sex position books and DVDs to help you come up with some interesting ideas. It’s all fair game if both of you are comfortable and physically capable of trying it. And, if you want to take it a step further, explore a new location! A different room or even a hotel room for the night can make a difference.
5) Speak Up: Keep an open forum not only about your sex life, but your relationship in general. No matter how many positions, toys, and tricks you have up your sleeve, your sex life is going to suck if your relationship is not in a healthy space. The difference between hookup sex and committed sex is intimacy and connection. If you are only having sex with your partner to get an orgasm or to avoid deeper issues, then you have a serious problem.
